Like all ” A Virtual Memorial” manifestations, also the evnt realisation in Phnom Penh
was directed to the future, and the perspective of future activities related to aims of the event,
a cause and occasion for its creator Agricola de Cologne to learn about the collective trauma through his own research,
so the rsearch is representing one essential component of the interventions to be realised.

“A Virtual Memorial Phnom Penh 2012” was presenting @ META House during three days a kind of festival
screening art films and videos under the motto “The Freedom of Memory”
dedicated to the genocide in Cambodia 1975-1979 referring to collective memory as a phenomenon,
not only relevated to Cambodia as a place where a most horrible genocide based on the insane idealogy
of a kind of stoneage Communism massacring more than 2 millions Cambodians, among them the entire intellectual elite,
a loss the wholoe country ist still suffering from.
